Veteran game-makers and publishers Cryptozoic Entertainment have announced that they are currently working on developing a tabletop version of Valve's popular first-person puzzle game Portal.

Cryptozoic is known for its cardboard adaptations of popular video games, from Street Fighter to Hawken and even Penny Arcade The Game, their latest creation, Assassin's Creed: Arena, pending release this month.

The company has recently revealed a few details about the upcoming Portal game during last week's American International Toy Fair.

With the placeholder title Portal: Uncooperative Cake Acquisition Game, the game is designed to serve two to four players. Cryptozoic is working on developing the boardgame adaptation with the original designers of the video game, in order to make sure that the final result will deliver a unique narrative experience.

The game package will come with various custom playing pieces, including sentry turrets, test subjects, companion cube and presumably some cake, and it currently has a release window of Fall 2014, with a price tag of $50 / €36.

Cryptozoic Entertainment has a few more video game-related productions in store for 2014, such as the DC Comics Deck-Building Game: Forever Evil, The Walking Dead "Don't Look Back" Competitive Dice, and the NHL Power Play Team-Building Card Game (tentative name).
