Nintendo is offering a limited edition (and quite aptly named) Fancy Pattern Vivillon as a free download for all Pokemon X and Pokemon Y owners, in order to celebrate a pretty massive milestone in the game's existence.

Pokemon X and Y owners have successfully passed the 100 million trades milestone that Nintendo challenged them with, and now their dedication and transactions through the Global Trade Station have earned them a new and exclusive critter.

Developer Game Freak wants to thank its devoted fans by enabling them to add the fanciful new Pokemon to their Pokebanks in order to further boost their collections.

All you have to do in order to get the new and improved version of Vivillon is to select Mystery Gift from either game's main menu, and then select Receive Gift to begin the download.

The Fancy Pattern Vivillon is an exclusive offer that you won't encounter in the wild, so you'd better hurry and get it while the offer lasts.

This kind of promotion from Nintendo is only one of the reasons why its dedicated userbase helped build the Pokemon franchise into a massively lucrative business, and this move will surely make Pokemon X and Y owners who haven't touched their 3DS or 2DS in a long time play the games some more.
