Pokemon Art Academy is heading for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on June 19, preparing to teach its users how to draw various Pokemon.

The upcoming app offers more than 40 tutorials on how to draw certain Pokemon from the extensive world of the anime and game series, as well as a number of different painting tools and a Free Paint mode.

Pokemon Art Academy also allows its users to draw or create artwork based on more than 100 different Pokemon templates, and then to share their creations through the Miiverse social network, for the entire community to see.

The app is based on the Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone franchise, a popular series of art teaching programs for Nintendo's handhelds.

The software allows users to sketch on the touchscreen, using in-app brushes and colored pencils and pastels, making good use of the 3DS' two screens.

If you want to learn more about the upcoming software, visit the official website and watch the introductory video below, showing the software's tools and some of the templates in action, offering a pretty good idea of what can be created in the upcoming app.

Pokemon Art Academy will launch exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming console, in Japan, on June 19, in both digital and physical release forms.
