The team in charge of the PlayStation Network is announcing a new initiative called Mayhem, which will allow fans of the horror movie genre to get a wide range of titles with significant discounts until May 25.

The offered films run the full gamut from monsters to slashers and zombies, with the highlights including Final Destination, Saw, V/H/S, and The Cabin in the Woods.

More than 75 movies are offered at reduced prices, and gamers will be able to save for both SD and HD versions.

It would have been interesting for Sony to deliver a similar sale for horror-themed video games, especially considering the solid crop of such titles that have been launched over the years.

The PlayStation Network was originally designed to deliver only video games to users, but it has evolved over time to deliver a wider range of content.

Both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One have been marketed as multimedia devices by Sony and Microsoft, capable of becoming the center piece of the living room experience.

Sony has also recently launched a PSN-only television series called Powers, based on the comics with the same name, and a second season for it will be released in 2016.
