Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter has talked a bit about the upcoming PlayStation Now cloud streaming service announced by Sony and heavily criticized it, saying that it was a joke and that no third-party publisher would support it.

Sony revealed the PS Now service last month, confirming that it would allow PS3 games to be streamed via the cloud to PS3 and PS4.

Analyst Michael Pachter isn't so sure about the service's popularity, especially among third-party publishers, who won't be eager to let their games be streamed online.

"PlayStation Now is a joke," he said in the latest issue of Game Informer, via Videogamer. "There is no publisher that is going to license content that's less than two-years old because they would be concerned that they can't sell as many copies if they make it available for subscription or rental. This has no prayer of working. None."

Currently, the PS Now closed beta features some third-party games like Darksiders 2 or Ninja Gaiden.
