Sony has confirmed that its planned maintenance period for the PlayStation Network online service has been postponed, meaning the PS3, PSP or PS Vita owners will still be able to play online and access services like the PlayStation Store today.

Sony took down the PlayStation Network several times for planned maintenance in the last few months. This new period, which was supposed to start today, was among the longest and most severe.

In an update on the PlayStation Twitter account, Sony has confirmed that the PSN will stay online today, as the maintenance period has been postponed.

Expect to hear some more details about the PSN and when it will actually be taken offline at a later time.

Until then, you can still interact with the service as usual by playing online with friends, visiting the PlayStation Store, and making changes to your actual PSN account.
