Jade Raymond, the leader of the Ubisoft Toronto development studio, says that the pure computing power of the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the rumored Xbox 720 from Microsoft is not enough to increase the level of innovation in the games industry.

The developer tells MCV that, “As a gamer and developer I’m very excited about the promise of next-gen. That being said, innovation is not necessarily driven by teraflops alone.”

She adds, “Hopefully unique gameplay is still something that can make a game stand out.”

Previously, Jade Raymond has assessed that only ten AAA releases can make money in one year, because the market is crowded and players are migrating towards mobile and social experiences.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist is a new Sam Fisher powered stealth title that will be launched in August, with Jade Raymond leading development.
