The next gen console offers a different gaming experience than the PS3

The upcoming PlayStation 4 won't necessarily replace the current PlayStation 3, as Sony believes the next-gen console is an addition to the family, just like the PSP or PS Vita.

Sony is working hard on putting the finishing touches on its PlayStation 4, which was already confirmed back in February.

What's more, Sony has highlighted, via NowGamer, that the PlayStation 4 isn't being built as a replacement to the PlayStation 3. Instead, the company thinks of the next home console as an addition to the lineup.

"PS4, an addition to the PS family, like PSP and PS Vita, will offer a completely new gaming experience," Sony's Middle East General Manager, Robert Fisser, said.

The PlayStation 4 won't replace the PlayStation 3, Fisser emphasized, and also revealed that the next gen console would be released in at least one territory during the Holiday 2013 season.
