The team in charge of the PlayStation 4 at Sony announces that it plans to give all those interested free access to the online multiplayer of the PlayStation Plus service during the coming weekend, starting at 12:01 AM Pacific Time on Friday, September 26 and until Sunday, September 28 at 11:59 PM PT.

The company says that the move is designed to allow all those who bought a current-gen device to try out the multiplayer modes of titles like Destiny, FIFA 15, Diablo 3 – Ultimate Evil Edition and Madden NFL 15.

The official announcement adds, “Although we’re opening up the multiplayer portion of PlayStation Plus, our members receive a lot more than just that. If you’re curious, you can check out everything a Plus membership has to offer here. Enjoy the weekend, and let us know what you’ll be playing in the comments below!”

The PlayStation Plus service is Sony’s answer to the Xbox Live Gold concept created by Microsoft and the company is using it to deliver free titles to gamers on a monthly basis.

The move is designed to show gamers what they are missing out on by not subscribing and might lead to an increase in the number of players who are willing to pay to get access to these kinds of experiences.
