Sony announces that the friends list for the PlayStation 4 version of the PSN has been expanded to 2,000 entries in order to allow those who buy the new device to stay in touch and play with as many of their buddies as possible.

In an announcement on the official forums the team states that, "The PS3 system will continue to support up to 100 friends at one time. If you build a friend list bigger than 100 on PS4/Vita, network servers will automatically filter your friend’s list when you play on a PS3 system."

Because the change to the PlayStation 4 has been made late during its development cycle some gamers will still use the 100 friends limits, although it seems that developers might be able to change it via an update.

The new Sony console will be out on November 15 in the United States and two weeks later in Europe.
