Sony has talked about the rivalry between the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and confirmed that, at least in North America, it feels like a "challenger," due to the popularity of the Xbox 360 in that region.

The next-gen console war is set to begin in November when both the PS4 and Xbox One are going to be released in North America and Europe.

Sony's Shuhei Yoshida has offered some new details about the state of pre-orders for the PS4, via DualShockers, and has revealed that the proportion between Europe and North America is largely the same like with the PS3 many years ago.

In North America, Sony is definitely trying to perform better than with the PS3, but Yoshida has admitted that the PS4 was a "challenger" in that territory mainly because of the popularity enjoyed by the Xbox 360.

Even so, the company will strive to make the PS4 popular in that region.
