During the Game Developers Conference, the Sony team working on the upcoming PlayStation 4 revealed that the core development for console games could be done using Window 64 bit, with tools fully integrated into Visual Studio 2010 and 2012.
A report from Destructoid quotes Chris Norden, a staff engineer from Sony, as saying, “Debug your PS4 code as you would your PC code.”
When the PlayStation 4 was announced, the company emphasized how easy it would be for developers to create games for it.
Sony has also reiterated a number of hardware details: the processors will use a X86 architecture, will have low power consumption and 8 cores, while the memory will use the GDDR 5 standard also seen in high-level graphics cards.
The PlayStation 4 still does not have an official design, a launch date or a set price.
