The PlayStation 4 from Sony has beat the Xbox One from Microsoft in term of sales on the United Kingdom market by a couple of thousand units in 2013.
NeoGAF says that the two devices were virtually head to head for a long time and that the final week made a difference.
The best-selling game device of 2013 in the United Kingdom was the Nintendo-made 3DS handheld, which benefitted from the launch of the new 2DS model and from high-profile game releases.
Worldwide, the PlayStation 4 has gone past the 4.2 million units mark, while the Xbox One is over 3 million in terms of worldwide sales.
Most analysts believe that the Sony device has performed better because it has a lower price and because it is currently available in a larger number of markets.
The console is currently scheduled to launch in Japan on February 22.
