The PlayStation 4 will allow owners to capture gameplay footage via the HDMI connection, as it won't be protected by the HDCP encryption.

The PlayStation 3 is a popular console but, unfortunately for gamers who want to capture footage of their games playing on the console, it features HDCP protection when using its HDMI port. This means that video capture can only be attempted using the component connection.

Seeing as how the PS4 only features HDMI, many gamers feared that video capture would no longer be possible on the next-gen console.

Sony has heard those worries and confirmed through the voice of one of its Twitter representatives that HDMI output when playing games won't be encrypted using HDCP.

As such, owners can capture video of their games using the high-quality HDMI connection.

More details about this feature will be offered soon, so expect to hear more about it.
