Not sure if this is good or bad news given Sony’s history of botched update releases for the PlayStation 3 console, but here it goes.

According to the Japanese company, the next firmware update is now available for download and promises the following improvements:

- Auto download of system software updates has been expanded to support all PSN users; - Auto download support of purchases made on the Web Store will be made available to all PSN users; - New options for trophy privacy settings allow users to set which trophies are visible; - Data can now be transferred from PS3 to PS Vita using Wi-Fi and Ethernet connection.

System software update 4.50 should pop up on PlayStation 3 beginning today, and hopefully won’t brick any consoles after installation. Stay tuned for more updates on this.
