Video game developer Obsidian is announcing that Pillars of Eternity is now out all over the world, regardless of the outlet gamers have ordered it from, and a new launch trailer for the title is available, giving gamers a look at the kind of experience it can offer.

The game was funded by fans of the classic role-playing genre on Kickstarter and was created using an entirely new world, a series of well-known elements from the genre, but also entirely new ideas.

The core mechanics are those of classic experiences like Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, and gamers will have to carefully create and then manage a party as they explore the world and deal with a wide range of quests.

Combat is turn-based and the class choice determines the types of weapons that gamers can use and the spells they can deploy in order to take out enemies or help allies.

Distribution duties for Pillars of Eternity are handled by Paradox Interactive.

Later in the day, at 23 CET, fans will be able to see Josh Sawyer, the game director and lead designer, playing the title on Twitch.

Feargus Urquhart, the CEO of Obsidian Entertainment, states, "Given where we were when we started on Pillars of Eternity, this is the start of a new chapter in the story of Obsidian. We’ll be forever grateful to all of our fans and backers for making this moment possible, and truly hope that we have lived up to the faith you placed in us."
