"Japan hasn't always been the easiest market for us," the head of Xbox acknowledges

Microsoft is preparing to launch the Xbox One console in Japan on September 4, and the company is determined to conquer The Land of the Rising Sun.

The head of the Xbox division, Phil Spencer, has confirmed via Twitter that the company will make its presence felt during the upcoming Tokyo Game Show in September, acknowledging that the Japanese market poses some difficulties that they have not been able to overcome yet.

Sony got a head start with the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, which is available on the Japanese market since February, but the company has so far seen a pretty slow start, which means that the Xbox One doesn't debut at a significant disadvantage.

The Xbox 360 failed to find its footing in Japan, which lead to the PlayStation 3 dominating the field in the eastern archipelago, but this time around Microsoft seems to be in a better position, as evidenced by the massive pre-orders of the Day One edition of both its Kinect-less Xbox One as well as the new, more affordable SKU.

Although the competition hasn't been doing too well over the last few months, Spencer seems to be aware of the fact that the Xbox One won't have it any easier in Japan, which has been underlined by the company's aggressive marketing approach so far.
