Persona 5 is headed for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system from Sony, and the game's first atmospheric trailer has just dropped.

Sony's pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference is currently underway in Japan, and a lot of exciting announcements are being made, including the one regarding Atlus' upcoming game, which is currently set for release sometime in 2015.

This is yet another heavy hitter headed for Sony's newest home console, the PlayStation 4, no doubt adding some further fuel to the ongoing flame wars regarding it and its direct competitor, the Xbox One system from Microsoft.

The Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series of role-playing games is among the most popular franchises in Japan, and it has always been associated with PlayStation platforms. Furthermore, Persona 5 could turn out to be a system seller in Japan, where Sony has been struggling to get a footing since launching the PS4 in February.

Both Microsoft and Sony are courting and encouraging Japanese video game developers to create games with a pronounced local flavor for their consoles, and we're bound to see a lot more in the following weeks.

For the time being, there is no word on when Persona 5 will be released, the only information being that the title will come out sometime during 2015, in both Japan and North America.
