Developer Valve and publisher Perfect World announce that they have reached an agreement about the right to run DOTA 2 in mainland China.

Perfect World will have exclusive rights to the game and will incur all the costs associated with its operation.

Mr. Robert Hong Xiao, the co-chief executive officer of Perfect World, states, “Dota 2, a refined work by the developers at Valve, has received great attention from players worldwide."

Perfect World has a long history of running the MMO with the same name on the Chinese market and the company has also made the move to developing other projects after it acquired Cryptic Studios and creating Runic Games.

Gabe Newell, the president of Valve, adds, “We knew when we started building Dota 2 that Dota was already loved by millions of gamers in China. Valve gave very careful consideration to which potential partner, among multiple candidates, would best serve the Chinese Dota community.”

DOTA 2 is currently in beta state and will probably get a full release during 2013.
