Developer Grinding Gear Games has announced that free-to-play action role-playing game Path of Exile is getting a brand-new expansion on August 20, titled Forsaken Masters.

The update is pretty hefty, and it includes a bunch of stuff, among which seven new masters that will train you in various skills, and that will send you on different missions, each one having its own play style.

The Forsaken Masters update will also include new items, mods and hideouts for Exiles to customize and make their own, as well as new skill and support gems, and some changes to the game's massive passive skill tree, with extensive balance improvements made.

Of course, as with any big change to the skill tree, the update will also deliver an optional one-off full reset, so lapsed players can also get into the game and try out a new build.

Furthermore, there will be new Challenge Leagues, including two new tiers, the Rampage and Beyond Challenge Leagues, which will be unveiled next week.

Forsaken Masters will be offered free of charge to players of the action role-playing game, just like the base game was, and will be supported entirely by cosmetic microtransactions.

The developers are slowly unveiling the seven masters, one every couple of days, each one of them coming with its own specialized crafting options and Hideout tileset and decorations to unlock.

The Forsaken Masters are coming to the world of Wraeclast on August 20, 2014.
