Pulse and Sony-branded headset will still work, however

Sony has shed some more light on the possibility of connecting headsets made for the PlayStation 3 to the new PlayStation 4, confirming that Bluetooth ones won't work at all, while wired devices require an update to be compatible.

The PlayStation 4 will usher in new standards in terms of connectivity but, at least in terms of headsets, it seems that Sony has made some compromises.

According to a company statement from GameInformer, the PS4 won't support Bluetooth headsets made for the PS3 at all, with the exception of its own series of devices, like the Pulse ones, which will get a special update in the future.

Wired headsets that connect via USB will require a special patch to even work, not just specifically for chat.

Until that update will appear, however, PS4 owners can use the special mono headset that will be bundled with each console and can be connected straight through the DualShock 4 controller.
