Sony has confirmed that it's going to share news about the next major PS4 firmware update soon enough and reports about it including media playback improvements have already appeared.

The PS4 has been around for quite a lot of months, and while Sony has certainly supported the console through different things like games and features, its firmware update release cycle hasn't been the most constant one.

Throw in the fact that the company hasn't exactly been that clear on what new features are going to appear for the console, and users aren't that happy with the way Sony's been treating them.

Now, Sony PS blog representative Fred Dutton has revealed in the comments section of a new article that news about a big PS4 firmware update are going to be shared with fans soon enough.

Unfortunately, he couldn't give an exact timing for the news or for the actual system software update.

However, Twitter user Tidux, who's been right on several occasions when it came to PS4 firmware releases, has said that the new one includes media playback options for MP3 files and other such things.

As of yet, however, the rumor hasn't been confirmed, so expect to hear some official info from Sony about the new PS4 software soon enough.
