French publisher Ubisoft is eagerly awaiting a price cut for the Nintendo Wii U, as it hopes that, once more people afford to get the console, they'll start to buy Ubisoft's own games for the platform.

The Wii U was released in November of last year and its debut was pretty successful, with Nintendo managing to sell quite a few units, despite its relatively high price.

Now, while Nintendo is adamant that it won't slash the price tag of the Wii U, Ubisoft has confirmed that it's eagerly awaiting such a move.

"We always want the hardware to be at a low price because we want as many fans as possible to afford to buy our games," Ubisoft's Executive Director of EMEA territories, Alain Corre, told Edge.

The exec also mentioned that Ubisoft was quite confident in the Wii U as it hoped the console "will find its public at some point. Some were expecting sales to be quicker but we are optimistic."

As of yet, Nintendo is focused on getting more games out there for the Wii U and on improving its performance with different firmware updates.
