Reggie Fils-Aime, the leader of the United States division of Nintendo, says that the name of the Wii U is not a cause for the relatively low sales of the new console.

According to the executive, the public knows about the device and about its features but simply lacks enough reasons to go out and buy one.

He tells Kotaku that “The issue is the lack of a steady rate of software launches to motivate the consumer to drive buzz and engagement and to highlight the wide variety of uses of the GamePad. That’s the issue.”

Fils-Aime says that Nintendo will deliver more games for the Wii U in the coming months, all of them designed to deliver experiences that cannot be replicated on any other devices.

The Wii U will get a 50-dollar and Euro price drop later in the year in order to kickstart its sales.
