Nintendo has confirmed that, after almost a year of availability, the Wii U is getting a price cut. The Deluxe Edition of the console, with a 32GB hard drive, now costs just 299 USD (around 224 EUR) in North America.

The price cut has yet to be confirmed by Nintendo of Europe, however.

Nintendo released the Wii U back in November of last year and, since then, sales haven't exactly impressed due to the pretty high price and the lack of must-have games.

Now, ahead of the release of plenty of big titles in core franchises like Legend of Zelda, Mario, or Donkey Kong, Nintendo has cut the price of the Wii U Deluxe edition to 299 USD, via AGB.

The discount goes into effect on September 20 and, at that time, a special bundle of the Wii U and the new Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will be released for just 299 USD in North America. Besides the console and game, lots of other bonuses will be included in the offer, like a code to redeem a digital version of The Wind Waker HD from the Nintendo eShop.
