Gamers will able to download classic NES and SNES titles

Nintendo is keen to draw as many players as possible to the Wii U and that means appealing to the nostalgia that currently drives many gamers.

The company announces that it will publish a number of older games on its Virtual Console service, allowing many fans to relive the experience offered by the titles that influenced their childhood.

The list of video games includes:

NES – Balloon Fight, Donkey Kong Jr, Excitebike, Kirby's Adventure, Punch-Out, Ice Climber, Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario Bros., Yoshi, Mega Man 1, Wrecking Crew and Yoshi's Cookie

SNES – F-Zero, Super Mario World, Kirby's Dream Course, Kirby's Dream Land 3, Kirby Super Star, Super Metroid and EarthBound

Nintendo is also launching a firmware update for the Wii U that will improve performance, deliver new services and will enable a new data transfer tool.
