The next major expansion for World of Warcraft is almost feature complete, according to a new report which claims that, through art outsourcing, Blizzard has managed to progress much faster than with previous add-ons for the online game.

World of Warcraft launched way back in 2004 and the massively multiplayer online role-playing game has demonstrated a huge resilience after all this time, still commanding a loyal following with millions of monthly subscribers.

Last fall saw the debut of the latest expansion, in the form Warlords of Draenor, which introduced all sorts of brand new things to the multiplayer RPG, not to mention new story-based quests.

Now, a new report, via Tumblr, claims that the next expansion for WoW might appear much sooner, thanks to an effort from Blizzard in regards to its art outsourcing efforts. Apparently, this aspect of the expansion development cycle has always generated problems, but thanks to a massive increase, the next add-on for WoW is already in the feature complete stage.

As such, Blizzard only has to implement all the mechanics in the game, test them out, and ensure that they work as intended.

Given this rumored state of the project, a late 2015 or early 2016 release for the next WoW expansion might be possible. Do take it with a grain of salt, however, as Blizzard hasn't commented about this specific subject.
