BioWare Montreal general manager Yanick Roy has revealed that right now the next Mass Effect game in the series is in the mid-way point of development, as it's passed the early stages but isn't quite in the last one.

Mass Effect 3 came out back in 2012 and, since then, developer BioWare has tasked its Montreal team with creating the next iteration in the series, under the close supervision of the core Edmonton team.

Quite a few details appeared in recent months, including a few scarce glimpses at the game, which will not star Commander Shepard, the protagonist of the first trilogy.

Now, while answering questions on Twitter, BioWare Montreal General Manager Yanick Roy has revealed that, at the moment, the next Mass Effect is right in the middle of development.

He confirmed that it's too late to be in the early stages of the creation process, but that it's too early to be in the end of the development cycle.

As such, fans should be glad that work on the new Mass Effect title is going smoothly and, considering it's at the mid-way point, you can expect BioWare to maybe release it in late 2015, if everything goes smoothly at the Montreal team.
