Dom Starr, the developer leading campaign creation for Total War: Rome 2, suggested that The Creative Assembly might use the recently acquired fantasy Warhammer license in order to create a spin-off for the Total War franchise.

Speaking to Eurogamer he states, “Well they're both about war. They both involve lots of things killing each other, so...”

SEGA surprised the gaming world when it announced that it had picked up the Warhammer license, which was not used in the last few years.

Total War mixes a strategic level that’s turn-based and allows for kingdom management and recruitment, with a tactical real time side where armies clash and players act as generals and control tactics.

The Creative Assembly is preparing to launch Rome 2 on the PC before the Christmas shopping period.
