The leader of developer Crystal Dynamics confirms that a new Tomb Raider movie is in the early stages of production and that it will be based entirely on the rebooted video game, which launched earlier during the week.

Darrell Gallagher, the man in charge with the game at Crystal Dynamics, is quoted by CVG as saying, “We’re seeing the challenges through the same lens. It was important for both of us to have a cohesive version of the franchise.”

Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix are both eager to have a clear vision of the franchise that extends across all media.

The new Lara Croft is more vulnerable, and is only learning how to deal with threats from the environment and other human beings.

The game has been well received by the fan community, although some controversy surrounded the way violence was portrayed in the rebooted Tomb Raider.
