Rain World is a cute-looking platformer with a unique setting, taking place in a post-apocalyptic alien world, following a mutated slugcat trying to make an honest living through the vestiges of civilization.

The entire game takes place in a sprawling and decrepit urban environment, where you have to hunt, take care of your cubs, and get away from predators.

The game underwent a successful Kickstarter campaign at the start of last year, and now a gameplay video from Rain World's alpha shows us the progress that the developer has made so far.

The video shows the protagonist sneaking, jumping, pouncing on unsuspecting pigeons, and carrying some rudimentary tools and using them as weapons against an enemy lizard.

The game is all about survival and looks very smooth, with a very gloomy 16-bit aesthetic highlighting the brutality of everyday struggle.

The game has an open-ended sandbox style that lets players explore the world and make meaningful choices, and see the consequences of those choices unfold, in a unique ecosystem where they have to both hunt to ensure survival and take care not to become something else's next meal.

After the success of the Kickstarter campaign the dev team decided to make the game using Unity, so the estimated release date of late 2014 had to be pushed back. For the moment, there is no information regarding a prospective release date.
