14 DAY TRIAL // It seems that fans of the Dungeons & Dragons universe who are familiar with the Neverwinter MMO will be able to travel with famous character Drizzt Do’Urden later in the year, when the development team introduces a new Underdark expansion for the title.
The move is linked to a wider Rage of Demons storyline that Wizards of the Coast is introducing to its fantasy universe, which will also involve other video games and tabletop titles.
Gamers will be able to travel through the underworld where powerful demon lords like Demogorgon, Orcus and Graz’zt are making their presence felt.
Drizzt Do’Urden is the first one sent to investigate, and gamers will have to help him battle the powerful enemies.
In Neverwinter, players will be able to explore Menzoberranzan, the drow city, and the quests they will complete will be written by R.A. Salvatore himself.
Nathan Stewart, brand director at Wizards of the Coast, states in the announcement, "I can’t wait to see everyone interact with one of the world’s most recognizable fantasy characters: Drizzt Do’Urden. Descending into the depths won’t exactly be easy for him, and D&D fans will get their mettle tested just like Drizzt when they come face-to-face with all the demon lords."
The Underdark expansion for Neverwinter will also introduce other new elements to the MMO, which will be announced at a later date.
