The two filmmakers declined because of the similarities with Indiana Jones

Naughty Dog, the developer of big franchises like Uncharted or the more recent The Last of Us, apparently asked filmmakers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg multiple times to write and take charge of the movie based on the Uncharted series.

The Uncharted movie has been caught in development limbo for many years, as quite a few directors have been attached to the project over the years, not to mention different actors.

According to Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, Naughty Dog asked them several times to make the Uncharted movie, but they declined because of the many similarities between the games and the Indiana Jones movies.

Both Rogen and Goldberg told IGN that, if they could figure out how to make the game translate into a movie that won't be compared to the Indiana Jones ones, they'd jump on the project.

After seemingly making some progress last year, the Uncharted movie is once again suspended.
