Most used teams are New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins

The development team at EA Sports has revealed that during its first week on sale NHL 13, the hockey simulation launched this year, has managed to set a new record for the franchise, topping the big performance of last year by about 9 percent.

The GM Connected feature allowed gamers to create 50,000 own versions of the NHL while the most popular teams during the first week of play were the New York Rangers, Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Gamers have played 3.7 million online games and 5 million goals were scored while the first week of the real season topped up at 244.

Andrew Wilson, the executive vice president of EA Sports, has stated, “NHL 13 has incredible new gameplay innovation, and it’s the most connected NHL title we’ve ever created. We’re proud of this year’s game, and we’re extremely happy to see our fans worldwide embracing it in record numbers.”
