The development team at Visual Concepts and publisher 2K Sports announce that NBA 2K14 will be launched on October 1 on the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft.

The cover of the game features LeBron James, the Miami Heat player who is widely seen as the best the NBA has to offer at the moment.

The two companies are also working on versions of NBA 2K14 on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, which will use new technology and will deliver a number of unspecified new features.

There are no plans to launch the new basketball title on the Wii U home console from Nintendo, because of an internal decision at 2K Sports.

Gamers who pre-order NBA 2K14 will get access to the King James pack, which adds a Path to Greatness mode, 10,000 in-game coins and LeBron specific moves.
