EA Sports believes it isn't worth implementing the Ignite engine into FIFA 14 on PC

FIFA 14's PC version isn't powered by the next-gen Ignite engine, as Electronic Arts believes that most PCs don't even meet the minimum specifications to run the new technology.

EA impressed many gamers when it confirmed that its next sports games, like FIFA 14 or Madden NFL 25, would be powered by a new engine called Ignite on next-gen consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

PC owners, however, will have to stick to the old engine powering the Xbox 360 and PS3 editions of the FIFA 14.

This is due to the fact that most PCs can't even run the Ignite engine, so there's no reason to implement the tech in FIFA 14 on the PC, according to EA.

"Even though there were some PCs on the marketplace that could run that engine, the lion’s share of PCs on the marketplace could not," EA's Andrew Wilson told Polygon.

"And the majority of the gamer base that was playing the game on PC did not have a PC spec that would work with that."

Wilson didn't rule out implementing Ignite into the PC versions of future FIFA games but, as of yet, that requires a lot of technical tinkering.
