The development team at Capcom has revealed to Japanese magazine Famitsu that the upcoming Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will support a 1080p resolution and that it will set a new standard in sound use via support for the 5.1 channel format.

The company has also explained that the touch screen of the new GamePad controller will deliver the same functionality as the bottom screen of the Nintendo 3DS handheld.

It’s not clear whether the development team is also upgrading the look of the game or whether it is using the same assets and simply showing them in a better resolution.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be launched on both the 3DS and the new Wii U in March 2013.

The Wii U version of the game is designed to allow for online play using the new Nintendo Network.

Capcom is at the same time also working on a full follow-up called Monster Hunter 4.
