Microsoft should try to appeal mainly to hardcore gamers

Peter Molyneux, the legendary game creator behind Populous and Fable, believes that the new home console from Microsoft needs to offer a lot of connectivity options in order to make playing a social experience while also keeping costs down.

Gamespot quotes the developer as saying that, “When I used to work at Microsoft the key phrase that I used to hear bandied around was the next Xbox should be 'input one' on people's living room screen.”

Molyneux expects the new Xbox 720 to cost less than 300 dollars (220 Euro) and believes that a higher price might deter the console from being widely adopted.

Microsoft is holding a big reveal event in a few hours, which is supposed to show the hardware specs of the new console, the design and a number of titles that will be launched alongside it in the fall.
