Mojang, the maker of Minecraft, has announced that it will launch Scrolls, its lesser-known property, on December 11.

Everyone knows the Swedish developer for its sandbox building game, Minecraft, which has become a veritable cultural phenomenon in recent years, selling well over 50 million units all across the world.

Mojang has also been working on a collectible card game titled Scrolls, which has been in beta testing on PC for quite a while, and is now due out next week.

The game will also be launching on Android, in addition to PC, and the iOS version is expected to land shortly thereafter, but the exact date has not yet been revealed.

The game will be priced like a premium app on both mobile platforms, and gamers will also be able to get new cards (scrolls) through microtransactions, in addition to in-game gold.

Mojang will, however, curtail the amount of money people can spend, in order to maintain a sense of balance in-game. The decision sounds unlikely, given that the purpose of games, beyond entertaining, is to make money, but Mojang seems adamant that it's the right way to do it.

The developer has also assured people that nobody actually needs to spend more than the admission price in order to get the entire breadth of content, but some gamers might be inclined to take some cash-fueled shortcuts.
