Shigeru Miyamoto, the leading video game developer working at Nintendo, says that at the moment he is not ready to talk about any sort of future for The Legend of Zelda on the 3DS handheld, but the company has some ideas that might be explored in the coming years.

The game creator says that the company is at the moment focused on the new title for the Wii U, which was first shown during E3 2014 and is designed to use the entire power of the home console and to upgrade both the visual style and the mechanics of the series.

Miyamoto told investors after the general meeting of the company that “we have ideas for Nintendo 3DS which we have not announced yet, so I hope you will look forward to them.”

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds was launched on the 3DS in late 2013, and Miyamoto says that the game served as a test bed for some of the ideas that will be part of the coming Wii U experience.

Eiji Aonuma, the leading producer on the new title in the series, says that gamers will be impressed by the puzzles design mechanics that his team is using and by the way the open-world structure will influence the experience.
