Patrick Soderlund, an executive vice president at Electronic Arts, says that his company waited so long to announce Mirror's Edge 2 because it was looking for a great idea to build the game around and show to the public.

He describes the current incarnation of the game to Gamereactor as "a stunning concept, and when she came to us we knew we had it. And yes, we’ve been testing ideas and we’ve been prototyping stuff, and I’m glad that we waited to get the right idea."

The new Mirror's Edge 2 is being created using the Frostbite 3 engine and so far the team at DICE has not offered any sort of clear information about the story or the gameplay.

The series has been based around free-running and fans have been demanding a sequel for some time now.
