Microsoft has revealed that, given the major improvements built into Minecraft for the Xbox One, the new title won't be able to import save game files from Minecraft for the Xbox 360.

Minecraft amazed tens of millions of gamers from around the world, and the Xbox 360 version has been quite popular.

Last week, Microsoft revealed that Minecraft would also appear on the Xbox One next-gen console.

Now, a few more details appeared thanks to Microsoft's Phil Spencer, who talked with OXM about the new game.

According to him, Minecraft on Xbox One won't be able to support importing save game files from Minecraft on the Xbox 360.

"We're actually updating it in pretty significant ways for the new platform. Bigger worlds, which don't translate between the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One."

As such, fans should just buy Minecraft for Xbox One and start building back their original worlds from scratch.
