Markus Persson, aka Notch, the main developer behind indie hit Minecraft, says that the game has managed to move no less than 453,000 copies on all platforms on which it is offered on Christmas Day alone.

Notch initially stated via Twitter message that, “Across all platforms, Minecraft sold 453k copies on dec 24! Wowzers! <3”

He then corrected himself by adding, “Sorry, dec 25, not 24.”

The main platforms on which gamers can enjoy Minecraft are the PC and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft.

The game has already broken all sales records for indie titles in 2012 on both and the constant updates that developer Mojang is introducing mean that players continue to pick the game up at a constant rate.

Minecraft is best known for giving players the freedom to recreate some of their favorite experiences, like this remake of the original Super Mario level.
