The PlayStation Network is experiencing problems once again, but this time around it's not due to any maleficent activity and DDoS attacks, but instead, surprisingly, due to Minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition.

PlayStation owners were greeted with error code NW-31201-7 when trying to sign in. Although the exact cause of the outage remains a mystery, according to numerous reports from PlayStation Network users, the unlikely culprit seems to be a recently released Minecraft port.

Many people reported that they encountered the error after purchasing and downloading Minecraft on their PlayStation 4 computer entertainment systems.

Sony confirmed the issue on the official Sony support website, stating that the PlayStation Network was "currently experiencing a high volume of traffic," which led to users experiencing downtime when they attempted to connect or sign in on the PS4.

PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita users reported no such issues, the PSN apparently working fine for them. Furthermore, Sony seems to be on top of things, with the official AskPlayStation Twitter account stating that the company is working to resolve the issue.

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions of the popular open-world survival video game from Mojang have just been released, adding to the long list of platforms that Minecraft is already available on. The PlayStation Vita edition was supposed to come out alongside them, but unfortunately developer 4J Studios said that it still needed some work, for the time being.
