The final build was sent for certification last week, and it didn't pass Sony's scrutiny

Minecraft is apparently going to be delayed on the PlayStation 4 platform, port developer 4J Studios has announced.

The PlayStation 4 version of Minecraft went into final testing and certification at Sony last week, and 4J Studios has revealed that sadly, the build was found to have some issues and didn't pass the certification process.

For the time being, we don't know whether the Xbox One or PlayStation Vita versions of the popular open-world building and survival game will be released in August, as previously announced, or whether the launch will be held back in order to match the PS4 release.

This means that Xbox One fans might get the game a little bit earlier than their Sony console counterparts, but we still don't have a firm release date posted by the developer.

In any case, if you own the last-generation version of Minecraft on either the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 consoles, you'll be able to upgrade your game for a modest fee, and you'll also be able to bring your saved games over to the next-gen devices, where you'll be able to enjoy worlds up to 32 times bigger.

Unfortunately, cross-platform importing of worlds is not supported. We'll keep our ears open for the release dates of Minecraft on PS4, PS Vita and Xbox One, so stay tuned.
