The classic Amiga and Atari title Midwinter will be getting a remake due in 2015, at the hands of developer Chilli Hugger.

The game is set in the future, following a global catastrophe that resulted in the whole world being covered in ice. Players take on the role of a guerrilla fighter that aims to take down the oppressive General Masters, and proceeds to sabotage factories, rescue prisoners and cripple radio masts in order to do so.

Midwinter is regarded as a pioneering piece of game design, its mastermind creating a first-person shooter survival game with stealth elements, in an open world sandbox environment where exploration is key.

Fans of the 1989 game recognize Midwinter's immense potential, as the innovative gameplay was severely limited by the rigors of 16-bit hardware. Now, the developers seek not only to remake the game, but to realize the ambitious initial design with the aid of modern resources, as EuroGamer informs.

Chilli Hugger will organize a Kickstarter campaign in early 2014, in order to get some traction for Midwinter, which they expect to release some time during 2015.
