Microsoft wants to talk about entertainment, not the next-generation console

Microsoft is expected to hold a very special announcement at its press conference ahead of E3 2012 in June and, according to a new report, the company will debut a music streaming service instead of talking about its next-generation Xbox console.

Many rumors about the Xbox 720, the replacement of the 360, have appeared in recent times, but Microsoft has yet to comment on any of them.

While many speculate that the company might reveal the future device at its E3 2012 press conference, website The Verge claims that Microsoft will instead focus on different entertainment services and apps for the Xbox 360, instead of the new device.

The biggest upcoming feature, according to the website, is a music streaming service similar to Spotify, which is currently codenamed Woodstock.

It will allow Xbox Live members to listen to their favorite songs on the Xbox 360, their Windows-powered PCs, or on the Android, iOS or Windows Phone handsets.

No other details are known, but it seems that Microsoft is more focused on entertainment this year, rather than on a new Xbox console.
