The team at Microsoft working on the Xbox One home console says that biometric sensors were not integrated into the controller for the next-gen device because Kinect can be used to track them.

Zulfi Alam, an executive at the company, tells CVG that, “We already have the ability to know what your emotion and heart-rate is, and that's through the Kinect camera.”

Biometric sensors would have negatively affected battery life for the Xbox One controller, something that Microsoft wants to avoid.

The company says the new peripheral is built with smaller latency in mind and will allow gamers to play for long periods of time with its new ergonomic design.

Microsoft has recently announced that, despite earlier reports, a user can turn off Kinect completely, but they will be prompted to start it back up when a game or service requires its use.

The Xbox One will be launched in November of this year.
