The development team at 4A Games and publisher Deep Silver announce that all those who pick up Metro: Last Light via the Steam digital distribution service from Valve will receive a free copy of the novel that created the universe in which the game is set.

Metro 2033 was written by Dmitry Glukhovsky and those who read it will get more information about the lore of the game, according to Blue's News.

The author has since then written two other books linked to the same universe, predictably called Metro 2034 and 2035, which are expected to launch on Western markets this year.

Last Light is not directly based on any of them.

The new Metro video game will be offered on May 14 in the United States and May 17 in Europe and will also be playable on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 4.
