It seems that a team at Sony Pictures is at the moment working on a movie based on Metal Gear Solid, which is being written by Jay Basu and is produced by Avi and Ari Arad, with Jordan Vogt-Roberts set to direct once a script is created.

The writer is best known for the fact that he was selected by Universal Pictures in order to re-launch its classic monster movie library, according to Deadline.

At the moment, no information has been offered about the movie based on Metal Gear Solid and it's unclear whether the plot is set to be based on any of the entries in the video game series or if an entirely new one is created.

It's unclear which version of Snake will be featured and whether there will be any sort of effort to reference the most important events from the timeline that the fan community knows.

Right now, Konami is putting the finishing touches on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which will arrive later in the year and will introduce an open world structure for the first time.

Recently, the publisher had a rift with Hideo Kojima, who will leave the company once the video game development process is done.
